Occupational Therapy
We’re committed to helping your child learn the skills needed to succeed in life.
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy can help your child with learning skills needed to succeed in life. These “occupations” can include learning to dress and feed themselves, writing and fine motor skills, and sensory processing. We can provide services at the clinic, in schools, at home, and virtually.
Occupational therapy uses therapeutic activities to help your child learn these skills. This means that OT is fun! We use play as a way to engage your child, so they don’t realize they are working hard to meet their therapy goals.
How can Occupational Therapy help my child?
Sensory Integration
Through fun, sensory-rich activities, your child will be able to:
• Improve self-regulation skills
• Stay more calm and focused
• Improve their coordination and motor planning skills
Fine Motor Skills
We work on fine motor skills and hand strengthening in lots of fun ways! Your child will be able to:
• Write their name legibly
• Tie their own shoelaces
• Cut properly with scissors
• Hold a pencil properly
Feeding
We can help your child:
• Learn to tolerate new textures
• Eat a wider variety of foods
• Learn to adequately chew and manage foods in their mouth
Self Help Skills
Your child can learn to be more independent:
• Get dressed by themselves
• Feed themselves with a spoon and fork
• Learn to drink from a cup
• Brush their teeth
